You have Social Media, a blog, a website, why would your business need an email list?
The simple answer is an email list can help you grow a solid, warm audience that knows likes and trusts you. But what is so great about email and what sets it above everything else?
I’m here to tell you.
In the next five blogs we are going to focus on Email Lists and what they can do for you. So, let’s get started.
Why An Email List?
1. Email List vs Social Media
Social media like Facebook and Instagram are great places to interact with customers. So, why does your business need an email list when you have social media?
The thing about social media is your posts are always fighting against algorithms. Meaning, no matter what you do, you may still not reach all of your customers.
But email doesn’t have to fight against algorithms!
As long as you keep in mind the spam filters, emails go directly into your customer’s inbox. And coupled with a subject line that grabs their attention, they will get your message!
2. Email List vs Blog
Blogs are a great way to draw attention to your company. And as you are reading a blog right now, you know they work.
So, why use email when you have a blog?
While a blog is great for drawing customers in, they have to go looking for it. If your blog is well done, customers will come flocking.
But email goes directly to your customers. There is no work to draw them in, your message is dropped right in their lap.
3. Email List vs Website
There is no question that a well written website is a vital part to a modern business. And keeping it updated with news is vital to your business, customers, and even your site’s SEO.
But just with a blog, in order for your customers to find your information, they have to go looking for it.
Email is a much better way to distribute time sensitive information. Your website should help draw people to your email list so you can reach your customers when you want.
4. Email List Ownership
Remember MySpace? It was all the rage back when I was in school.
But what happened to it? It went out of business.
All of the connections made, all of the effort put in, gone.
When was the last time you heard about someone getting locked out of their Facebook account? Or getting hacked?
Could you even imagine losing all the work you’ve put into your social media due to a corporate take over?
The best thing about your email list is that you OWN it. Even if the company you use for email distribution goes bankrupt, the list of emails you’ve collected is still yours.
So, no matter the economic environment or social changes, you still have access to your customers.
5. Great ROI
Advertising is expensive and getting a good return on investment takes time and experimentation. But an email list is a waiting audience that already agreed to receive your messages.
There is no guesswork. They are a ready-made audience that you aren’t fighting for attention from other content on the page.
They are getting your messages front and center.
I’m sure by now you can see that an email list should be a vital part of your customer experience. So, if you are not collecting emails yet, hopefully you are thinking about starting now.
Building an email list is a great start to developing an incredible customer relationship.
